Chapter Two · May 2017
The City Where
We Finally Met Again.
For more than a year, there had been screens, messages, phone calls, and a whole lot of missing each other. Then, at last, you arrived in Berlin with your family.
I was nervous. I was meeting your family for the first time, and your dad wasn't exactly convinced about me yet. But there you were, right in front of me. No screen. No distance. Just you.
We held hands for the first time at Alexanderplatz, while you were holding your bubble tea. Such a tiny moment, and somehow one I'll never forget.
We watched Alien together, visited Philipp and little Yuna for the first time, and even met a taxi driver who had strong opinions about old and new Star Wars movies. Not every love story has that particular soundtrack.
And then, outside your family's hotel, somewhere around two or three in the morning, came our first kiss.
“I walked home for half an hour that night. I don't think my feet ever touched the ground.”
